What Is Band Insurance?
Band insurance is liability insurance coverage designed to protect your band from the costs associated with claims. Claims can arise from your performance or operations during an event. For example, if a patron injures themselves by tripping over your equipment or you damage a venue, band event insurance could help cover the costs of these claims. How Much Is Band Insurance?
A basic 1-3 day General Liability insurance policy starts at $59 and an Annual policy starts at $199 per year. Monthly payments are available after a 25% down payment. This price can vary depending on how many members are in your band. Our policies cover up to 10 members in a band. To add band members to the policy, simply list your band member’s names on your application and they will be insured under the policy.

General Liability Limits
The most your policy will pay for bodily injury and property damage claims occurring in the policies term that you become legally obligated to pay due to your business services.

The maximum amount your policy will pay in a 12-month period for bodily injury and property damage claims that result from the products you use to perform your services. However, it does not cover your products that are sold or distributed.

Easily name the venue or location you are performing at by adding an Additional Insured onto your Event or Annual band insurance policy. You can also add excess liability to meet any insurance requirements outlined in your contract.
Questions About Band Liability Insurance
Do I Need Band Insurance?
Yes. You may say, “I’m just singing, what’s the worst that could happen?” Well, a lot can happen actually. A guest trips over an extension cord and sprains their ankle. They sue you and you’re left with the medical bills. Or, the venue that booked you requires bands to have insurance in order to perform. Without insurance, you wouldn’t be able to play.
Band insurance is an important component of your business and is designed to protect you should you be sued as a result of your business operations. You could be held liable for claims that include injuries, illnesses, or damages arising from your entertainment services.
What Does Band Insurance Cover?
Band liability insurance protects your band from the financial consequences of claims. Insurance covers third-party bodily injury and property damage claims. It can cover defense costs, medical expenses, or damage to equipment.
We recommend that the higher the number of members in the band, the higher the annual revenue, the amount of gear, and the type of venues you perform at, the higher the coverage limits you should protect your business with.
Does Band Insurance Cover Musical Equipment?
We understand that your musical equipment is an essential part of your band, and that is why you can include Tools and Equipment coverage in your policy. Tools and Equipment coverage can help repair or replace damaged or stolen musical instruments and equipment.
In order to make your policy personalized for your band, we offer different limits of coverage. Equipment Insurance coverage options include
- Up to $2,000 policy year (+ $6.00 per month)
- Up to $5,000 policy year (+$12.50 / month)
These different coverage amounts are the amounts that your equipment is protected up to.
Are There Any Exclusions Or Limitations In Band Liability Insurance Policies?
Yes. There are some exclusions to your band insurance policy. These exclusions include any show that runs past 2:00 AM, events that have more than 1,000 attendees, fireworks at your show, and more. Listed below are a few more exclusions but if you would like to view the full list of exclusions you can do so while filling out your insurance application or by contacting Insurance Canopy.

Can I Add Additional Insured Parties to My Band Liability Insurance Policy?
Yes. Adding additional insureds is easy and can be done through your user dashboard or when you fill out your insurance application.
An additional insured is any landlord, venue owner, or event organizer who requires you to extend your general liability insurance protection to them.
How Do I File A Claim Under My Band Insurance Policy?
We understand that claims are never fun and are the last thing you want to be doing. So that is why we made filing a claim easier than belting out your favorite song.

- Fill out all of the necessary claims information.
- Wait a short intermission to be contacted by a claims adjuster.
- Receive payment for the claim, either to you or to a third party who was involved in the claim.
Can I Purchase Band Insurance If I'm A Solo Musician?
Yes. You don’t have to be in a band in order to protect yourself from the financial consequences of claims. If you are a solo musician you can protect yourself with general liability, products-completed operations, personal and advertising injury, and damage to premises rented to you.
Does Liability Insurance For Bands Cover Injuries To Band Members?
No, liability insurance does not cover injury to band members, assistants, or staff. Liability insurance covers third-party bodily injury and property damage claims. Instead, a band member’s injury would be covered by a workers’ compensation policy and not General Liability.
