The maximum amount of coverage you can receive during your policy period for bodily injury and property damage claims caused by your event.

What Type of Insurance Do I Need for an Event?
You need short-term general liability insurance for most events. Our event insurance coverage is designed for events with up to 5,000 guests and includes host liquor liability when alcohol is provided (not sold).
You may also want to add these coverages to your policy:
- Optional increased limits of liability for expensive events
- Retail liquor liability coverage when alcohol is sold at the event
- Optional Hired & Non-Owned Auto coverage for rented vehicles
Is Wedding Insurance the Same as Event Insurance?
No, wedding insurance is not the same as event insurance. While both offer general liability coverage, wedding insurance is a specific type of special event insurance tailored to the risks associated with weddings.
But if you sell high-risk items, need higher limits, or work with retailers that require specific terms, you may need a standalone product liability policy like the one we offer. Always review your policy details to ensure you have adequate protection.
When Should I Buy Event Insurance?
You can buy event insurance today for upcoming and future events. Many venues ask for proof of insurance 30–60 days before your event.
We recommend securing your coverage the moment you start making deposits, booking a venue, or hiring vendors.
Why Do Venues Require Event Insurance?
Venues require event insurance if you want to rent their space because it protects them from paying the costs of injuries or damages caused by you or your guests. With Insurance Canopy, you can add multiple venues to your policy.
What Is Not Covered by Event Insurance?
Event liability insurance does not cover:
- Events with more than 5,000 attendees
- Events that go past 2:00 a.m. or overnight
- Certain concerts (rap/hip-hop, heavy metal, hard rock, or ska)
- Mosh pits
- Parades
- Political rallies
- Fraternity or sorority events
- Haunted houses
- Overnight camping or retreats
- Adult or exotic venues
- Water activities or pools
- Pyrotechnics and fireworks (sparklers are okay)
- Mechanical rides (bounce houses, mechanical bulls, or inflatables)
- Motorsports
- Trampolines or wall climbing
- International weddings or events
