What Does Wedding Liability Insurance Cover?
- Bodily injury: Coverage if a guest is hurt at your wedding (like slipping on the dance floor)
- Property damage: Protection if the venue or rented equipment is damaged (wine-stained carpet, broken chairs, etc.)*
- Host liquor liability: Covers you if alcohol is served and a guest causes an accident (included when alcohol is complimentary, not sold)**
- Multiple event locations: Coverage for both your ceremony and reception, even if they’re at different venues
- Extended event coverage: Coverage lasts for four days, so it includes your entire wedding weekend or set-up and tear-down days, keeping you protected from start to finish (5+ days of coverage also available)
*Does not cover damages to your own property, decor, or owned items. Only intended to cover damages to rentals or those of your guests.
**Retail Liquor Liability is available for purchase if alcohol is being sold at your event.

The maximum amount of coverage you can receive during your policy period for bodily injury and property damage claims caused by your event.

Coverage for vehicles your business rents, leases, or borrows, or when employees use their own cars for work purposes.
Removes the exclusion for golf cart coverage within your policy. This coverage may only apply when drivers accompany carts; guests are not permitted to drive.
Added endorsement that requires your insurance to respond first to a claim, without asking the other party’s insurance to share costs.
Added endorsement that prevents your insurance carrier from going after a third party to recover money paid out on a claim.

Do Wedding Venues Require Insurance?
Yes, most wedding venues require insurance. It keeps their venue and staff safe from any accidents your event may cause on their property.
Read your contract carefully or ask your venue coordinator if insurance is required.
Who’s An Event Host?
An event host is the person in charge of hosting an event and booking a venue. They are the reason the event is taking place!
For a wedding, an event host is typically the couple, but parents, family members, or friends can also be the host. The host is different from the venue, wedding planner, coordinator, or vendors, and they need to get their own insurance since your event policy won’t cover them.
What’s Not Covered?
Wedding insurance does not commonly cover:
- Weddings with more than 5,000 attendees
- Events that go past 2:00 a.m. or overnight
- Overnight camping or retreats
- Adult or exotic venues
- Water activities or pools
- Fireworks (sparklers are okay)
- Mechanical bulls, bounce houses, or motorsports
- International weddings or events

How Far In Advance Should I Get Wedding Insurance?
You can get wedding insurance today for your future event! Many venues ask for proof of insurance 30–60 days before your scheduled event, or before you can book.
We recommend securing coverage as soon as you’re looking to book your venue and vendors, so you have proof of insurance ready to go. You’re event venue and date(s) need to be finalized by the start of the event for coverage to be effective.
Does Wedding Insurance Cover Alcohol-Related Incidents?
Yes, wedding insurance can cover alcohol-related incidents! If you choose to serve complimentary drinks, host liquor liability is automatically included. This can protect you if alcohol service results in an accident.
If you plan to sell or charge guests for alcohol, retail liquor liability coverage is available to add to your policy. Prices vary based on the number of estimated guests.
Is the Venue Automatically Covered?
No, the venue is not automatically covered. You can easily add your venue as an additional insured when you purchase your policy. This grants them coverage under your policy if an accident occurs due to your event.
You cannot add wedding planners, coordinators, or vendors to your policy as additional insureds
Can I Cover Both the Ceremony and Reception at Different Venues?
Yes, you can absolutely cover both a ceremony and reception at different venues using one policy.
Our wedding event insurance policy can extend coverage to multiple locations on the same day (or consecutive days). You can also add every participating venue to your policy as an additional insured at no extra charge!
