All policies cover general liability claims like property damage and third-party bodily injury. If you select an annual policy, you can also add more protection for your business with optional coverages, such as:
- Tools, Supplies, and Inventory Coverage (Inland Marine): Helps with the expense of repairing or replacing damaged or stolen equipment
- Professional Liability: Coverage for claims related to your professional services, such as teaching workshops or classes
- Liquor Liability: Insurance for exhibitors who make, distribute, sell, or serve alcohol at events as a regular part of their business
- Excess Liability: Increases your limits to meet your business needs or venue requirements
- Cyber Liability: Covers costs resulting from cybercrime, like ransomware and data breaches
How Much Exhibitor Insurance Costs
Exhibitor insurance can be as low as $49 per event*. If you prefer to cover your business year-round, annual coverage can be as low as $18.50 per month**. You can also add additional coverage to your annual policy, which will increase your premium.
* The lowest pricing is based on Arts and Crafts policies.
** The $18.50 per month pricing is based on DJ and Entertainers policies.
Why Do Exhibitors Need Liability Insurance?
No matter how simple or low-risk a festival, tradeshow, or convention may seem, accidents can and do happen. In fact, that’s why many event coordinators require vendors to carry and show proof of insurance. Carrying vendor insurance also shows your customers that you are professional, responsible, and prepared.
Not convinced? Consider these real-life examples of what could go wrong:
- At an outdoor event, unexpected storms flooded a policyholder’s tent, damaging several pieces of their artwork
- After setting up for a local craft fair, an artist returned the next morning to find her booth ransacked and several of her handcrafted items missing
- While viewing a jewelry display at a convention, a customer tripped and fell into a policyholder’s booth, injuring his shoulder and spraining his wrist
How to Add Additional Insureds to Your Policy
It’s simple to include additional insureds when you purchase your policy or whenever you need to during your coverage period. Just follow these five easy steps:
- Log in to your online account
- Locate the “Manage Policies” section
- Click “Add additional insureds” to add one AI, or click “Add unlimited additional insureds” to add multiple (a small fee may apply)
- Please provide the information required for the AI
- A copy of your policy will be automatically emailed to the added AI
FAQs About Exhibitor Insurance
What Does My Exhibitor Insurance Cover?
Exhibitor liability insurance covers third-party injury and property damage claims. This can include medical expenses and legal fees associated with your business operations.
What Is Not Covered by Exhibitor Insurance?
Basic general liability insurance does not cover the policyholder for injuries to themselves, their employees, or damage to their personal or business property.
If you opt for a short-term policy, products and completed operations are also excluded from coverage. Every policy also has named exclusions, so check your policy to see what’s specifically excluded from coverage.
How Do I File a Claim?
You can file a claim 24/7 via Insurance Canopy’s online dashboard:
- Log in to your account
- Navigate to the “Manage Policies” section
- Click on “File a Claim” and fill out the form
- Click Submit
Once you submit your claim, it can take 24-48 hours to process. A claims adjuster will contact you directly to answer questions and discuss your next steps.
Can I Get a 1-Day Policy for an Event?
Yes! Insurance Canopy offers exhibitor insurance policies for vendors who only need one-day event coverage or a plan that covers you for up to 90 days. These short-term policies start at $49 per 1-3 day event.
Why Is the Venue Asking to be Added as an Additional Insured?
When you add a venue or individual as an additional insured, your coverage extends to them for qualifying claims.
Many event coordinators require this to mitigate the risk of hosting events with multiple exhibitors.
