Food Trailer Insurance
Get affordable liability coverage for your food and beverage business, wherever you roll.
What is Food Trailer Insurance?
Food trailer insurance is a specialty food liability policy that combines general and product liability coverage with a trailer endorsement.
It’s specifically designed to protect food and beverage trailers from third-party injuries or damages caused by running your mobile business.
- Covers accidents in, on, or around your trailer when it's detached from your vehicle and parked
- Covers food-related illnesses from your products
- Covers damages caused by your trailer
- Covers legal fees, medical bills, and more
- Does not cover the trailer against theft or damage
- Not a substitute for Tools and Equipment Coverage
- Not the same coverage as commercial or personal auto insurance
- Cannot be replaced with food truck insurance

Questions About Mobile Food Trailer Insurance
You need food trailer insurance because most food truck insurance policies do not cover food trailers, especially if your trailer isn’t attached to your vehicle while you’re parked and serving. Trailer insurance helps ensure your whole mobile setup is protected!
Since food trailers are often treated as a separate vehicle, you’ll need a specific trailer endorsement added to your food truck policy to be fully covered. Without it, you could be left paying out of pocket if something goes wrong.
Yes, you’ll need a separate insurance policy for your food trailer and the truck that pulls it. Our liability insurance only covers accidents caused by your trailer. The towing vehicle will need commercial auto insurance to cover damage or accidents while towing the trailer.
Insurance Canopy does not offer commercial auto coverage on this policy at this time.
Yes, consider insuring the contents of your food trailer separately with our Tools and Equipment add-on. This protects your kitchen equipment, inventory, and supplies in case of theft or damage.
