What Are Amazon’s Seller Insurance Requirements?
- 1. Show proof of insurance
- 2. Provide an original Certificate of Insurance document completed in its entirety and signed
- 3. Have a policy with a general liability limit of at least $1 million dollars, is written on an occurrence basis, cover all sales from products you have listed on the Amazon website, and includes product liability insurance (bodily injury and property damage), personal injury insurance, and any other requirements outlined in the Participation Agreement
- 4. Name “Amazon.com Services LLC., and its affiliates and assignees” as additional insureds
- 5. Have a valid policy for at least 60 days from the date of submission, and your provider must give Amazon a minimum of 30 days’ notice of cancellation, modification, or nonrenewal
- 6. Verify your insured name matches the “legal entity” name you provide to Amazon
- 7. Be sure your insurance provider has global claim handling capability and a financial rating of S&P A- and/or AM Best A- or better
- 8. Ensure the deductible for any policy must not be greater than $10,000 and any deductible amount is listed on the Certificate Of Insurance

The most your policy will pay for bodily injury and property damage claims, occurring during your coverage, as a result of your business operations.

Yes, our policies meet the requirements for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Sellers. We have structured our policies to meet Amazon Pro Merchant Sellers, which have the highest standards for sellers. This means all types of Amazon sellers may receive coverage with our Amazon small business insurance.
If you need to adjust your policy to meet needs specific to your business, our quotes process allows you to increase your limits or include additional coverage options. After submitting an application, you will be able to work with one of our experienced agents to customize your coverage.
FBA is a logistics service for Amazon sellers. A seller will still manage their own online storefronts on Amazon, and the marketing of their products, but Amazon handles the logistics of it. Your physical products are stored at Amazon fulfillment centers where they package, ship, and provide the customer service for your products.
Amazon’s insurance requirements apply to any business that operates within the US. Most insurance companies, including Insurance Canopy, will only offer insurance for Amazon sellers who are located in the US. We know this can be frustrating for sellers whose business is based outside of the US but they operate in the US marketplace.

The biggest difference between Amazon Pro Merchants and Individual Sellers are your gross sales amounts. Individual Sellers are typically just starting out and plan on selling 40 units or less of their products per month. Pro Merchants are generating $10,000 in sales and selling more than 40 units of products each month.
Amazon Pro Merchants are the only seller group currently required to have product liability insurance. However, Insurance Canopy still recommends Individual Sellers invest in insurance too. Those who are not insured may not be backed by Amazon and face paying for costly claims out of their own pocket—which can lead to product recalls, a halt in business operations, a damaged reputation, loss of business relationships, and more.
